Summary

Olodaterol can lower serum potassium, and indapamide is a thiazide-like diuretic that causes potassium loss and has been associated with QT prolongation. Together they may produce hypokalemia that predisposes to ventricular arrhythmias, especially in patients with heart disease.

What this interaction means in plain words

Indapamide and Tiotropium-olodaterol can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Indapamide belongs to Cardiovascular; Tiotropium-olodaterol belongs to Respiratory.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Additive hypokalemia from beta2-agonist-driven intracellular potassium shift and diuretic renal potassium loss, with possible QT effects.

What to do

Check serum potassium and magnesium at baseline and periodically, and correct deficits. Consider an ECG in patients with cardiac disease or other QT-prolonging drugs.

What to ask your pharmacist
