What this interaction means in plain words
Itraconazole and Pasireotide can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Itraconazole belongs to Anti Fungals; Pasireotide belongs to Endocrine.
Why it happens
Additive pharmacodynamic QT prolongation.
What to do
Obtain a baseline ECG and correct potassium and magnesium before starting, then repeat the ECG during co-therapy. Consider an alternative antifungal if the QTc becomes prolonged.
