Summary

Leuprolide, as androgen deprivation therapy, can prolong the QT interval. Albuterol can cause hypokalemia and tachycardia, and at high doses may also affect QT, so the combination may increase arrhythmia risk in susceptible patients.

What this interaction means in plain words

Albuterol and Leuprolide have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive QT effects, with beta2-agonist-induced hypokalemia.

What to do

No routine action is needed at usual doses. Check potassium and ECG in patients with cardiac disease or high albuterol use.
