Summary

Lurasidone blocks alpha-1 adrenergic receptors and can lower blood pressure, particularly when starting treatment or increasing the dose. Combined with lisinopril, this can add to the blood pressure reduction and cause dizziness, orthostatic hypotension or syncope.

What this interaction means in plain words

Lisinopril and Lurasidone can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Lisinopril belongs to Cardiovascular; Lurasidone belongs to Central Nervous System.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Additive hypotensive effect from alpha-1 adrenergic antagonism by lurasidone and ACE inhibition by lisinopril.

What to do

Monitor blood pressure and orthostatic symptoms when lurasidone is started or titrated. Reduce the antihypertensive dose if symptomatic hypotension develops.

What to ask your pharmacist
