Summary
Mavacamten is metabolized by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4. Raised mavacamten levels can reduce ejection fraction and cause heart failure, and losartan is not an established CYP2C19 inhibitor, so the interaction is mainly theoretical. Both drugs lower blood pressure and may add to hypotension.
What this interaction means in plain words
Losartan and Mavacamten have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.
Losartan belongs to Cardiovascular; Mavacamten belongs to Cardiovascular.
Why it happens
Possible weak CYP2C19 inhibition by losartan; additive hypotension is pharmacodynamic.
What to do
Monitor blood pressure and echocardiographic LVEF per mavacamten labeling.
What to ask your pharmacist
- Is there anything I should notice while taking both?
- Do I need to tell my doctor at the next visit?
