Summary
Measles vaccine contains live attenuated virus, which may replicate excessively and cause disseminated disease in patients immunosuppressed by temsirolimus. The vaccine response may also be impaired.
What this interaction means in plain words
Measles vaccine and Temsirolimus are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Why it happens
mTOR-mediated immunosuppression impairs control of live attenuated virus replication.
What to do
Do not give live measles vaccine during temsirolimus therapy. Vaccinate at least several weeks before starting treatment or after immune recovery, per local guidance.
