Summary
Rubella vaccine is live attenuated and may cause disseminated vaccine-strain infection in patients immunosuppressed by temsirolimus. The immune response may also be inadequate.
What this interaction means in plain words
Rubella vaccine and Temsirolimus are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Why it happens
mTOR-mediated immunosuppression impairs control of live attenuated virus replication.
What to do
Do not give during temsirolimus therapy. Vaccinate before treatment or after immune recovery, following local guidance.
