For healthcare professionals — reference only. This page is a brief summary, not medical advice and not a substitute for official labeling or clinical judgement. Always verify before prescribing or dispensing.

Summary

Miconazole inhibits CYP3A4, which metabolises trazodone, but absorption from vaginal use is low. Systemic exposure to the inhibitor is therefore small, and any rise in trazodone levels is unlikely to matter clinically. Excessive sedation or QT effects are possible only in theory.

What this interaction means in plain words

Miconazole vaginal and Trazodone have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Possible CYP3A4 inhibition by miconazole, limited by minimal systemic absorption after vaginal use.
