What this interaction means in plain words

Mirtazapine and Pimozide are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Mirtazapine belongs to Central Nervous System; Pimozide belongs to Central Nervous System.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive QTc prolongation through delayed cardiac repolarization.

What to do

Avoid the combination and select an antidepressant with minimal QT effect if pimozide is required. Check baseline ECG and electrolytes if any concurrent use cannot be avoided.
