Summary

Thiothixene is a sedating antipsychotic and modafinil is a wake-promoting agent, so their effects on alertness oppose each other. Modafinil may reduce daytime sedation but could also aggravate agitation, anxiety or psychotic symptoms in susceptible patients. Thiothixene also lowers seizure threshold and modafinil may add to neuropsychiatric effects.
