Summary
Phentolamine is a non-selective alpha-blocker that causes vasodilation and can produce marked hypotension and reflex tachycardia. Nebivolol adds blood pressure lowering and blunts the compensatory tachycardia, so hypotension may be more pronounced.
What this interaction means in plain words
Nebivolol and Phentolamine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Nebivolol belongs to Cardiovascular; Phentolamine belongs to Cardiovascular.
Why it happens
Additive hypotensive effects from alpha-adrenergic blockade combined with beta-blockade and nebivolol-related vasodilation.
What to do
Monitor blood pressure and heart rate when combining, particularly during parenteral phentolamine use. Adjust doses if symptomatic hypotension develops.
