Summary
Cytokine release syndrome from talquetamab may transiently suppress CYP enzymes, which could raise quinine concentrations. Higher levels increase the risk of cinchonism and QT prolongation.
What this interaction means in plain words
Quinine and Talquetamab can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Quinine belongs to Anti Parasitic; Talquetamab belongs to Oncology.
Why it happens
Cytokine-mediated suppression of CYP3A4 reduces quinine metabolism.
What to do
Monitor for quinine toxicity such as tinnitus, QT prolongation and hypoglycemia, especially during step-up dosing and for about two weeks after. Consider an ECG if CRS occurs.
What to ask your pharmacist
- Should I take them at different times of day?
- Does the dose of either medicine need to change?
- Is there anything I should avoid, such as alcohol or certain foods, while on both?
