Sintesi

Rifapentine is an inducer of CYP enzymes and P-glycoprotein and can markedly lower plasma concentrations of sofosbuvir, velpatasvir and voxilaprevir. This may lead to loss of antiviral activity and failure to achieve sustained virologic response.

Rifapentine and Sofosbuvir-velpatasvir-voxilaprevir are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Induction of intestinal and hepatic CYP3A4 and P-glycoprotein by rifapentine increases clearance and reduces absorption of the HCV agents.

Do not coadminister; rifamycin inducers are not recommended with this regimen. Choose an alternative tuberculosis regimen or delay HCV therapy until rifapentine is completed.
