Urinary retention

作用のしくみ

Stimulates parasympathetic receptors to increase bladder muscle tone, which in turn causes contraction and stimulates micturition.

Urinary Retention: 10-50 mg PO three/four times daily. Some patients may require doses of 50-100 mg PO twice daily. Take 1 hour AC or 2 hours PC

妊娠: Unknown No human pregnancy data and no animal reproduction studies; fetal risk is unknown. Use only if clearly needed, for example for urinary retention with no simpler option.
授乳: Unknown No data on milk levels or infant effects. US label: decide whether to stop breastfeeding or the drug. If used, watch the infant for diarrhoea, tearing, drooling or excess urination.

Since bethanechol contracts the bladder there is potential for influx infection if the sphincter fails to relax.
Take on an empty stomach. Nausea and vomiting may occur if taken after food.
