概要
Ceftriaxone can form an insoluble ceftriaxone-calcium precipitate when mixed with calcium-containing solutions such as Ringer's or lactated Ringer's. Fatal cases of crystalline deposits in the lungs and kidneys have occurred in neonates given ceftriaxone and calcium-containing intravenous fluids. In neonates the combination is contraindicated, and in older patients it must not be mixed or co-infused in the same line.
この相互作用をわかりやすく説明すると
Ceftriaxone and Ringer's solution are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
なぜ起こるのか
Ceftriaxone binds calcium to form poorly soluble ceftriaxone-calcium salt, which precipitates in IV lines and in vivo.
対処法
Do not give ceftriaxone to neonates (up to 28 days) who need or are expected to need calcium-containing IV solutions, including Ringer's.
