Resumo
Arsenic trioxide has a boxed warning for QT prolongation, torsades de pointes and complete AV block. Granisetron can also lengthen the QT interval, so the combination increases arrhythmia risk.
O que esta interação significa em palavras simples
Arsenic trioxide and Granisetron can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Arsenic trioxide belongs to Oncology; Granisetron belongs to Gastrointestinal Tract.
Por que acontece
Additive pharmacodynamic QT prolongation.
O que fazer
Avoid other QT-prolonging drugs where possible and consider an antiemetic with less QT effect. If granisetron is needed, correct potassium and magnesium and monitor ECG throughout arsenic trioxide therapy.
