摘要
Oral polio vaccine is live attenuated and in immunosuppressed patients can cause vaccine-associated paralytic poliomyelitis. Immunosuppressive doses of hydrocortisone also reduce immune response.

Corticosteroid-induced immunosuppression permits prolonged replication of live attenuated poliovirus and reduces immunogenicity.

Do not use live oral polio vaccine in patients on immunosuppressive corticosteroids; use inactivated polio vaccine instead. Household contacts should also preferably receive inactivated vaccine.
