Summary
Chronic inflammation suppresses CYP450 enzyme expression, and treating the inflammation with brodalumab may restore enzyme activity. This could slightly lower exposure to CYP substrates such as quinidine. The effect is theoretical and the clinical impact is probably small.
What this interaction means in plain words
Brodalumab and Quinidine have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.
Brodalumab belongs to Miscellaneous; Quinidine belongs to Anti Parasitic.
Why it happens
Normalization of cytokine-suppressed CYP450 expression after IL-17 receptor blockade may increase metabolism of CYP substrates.
What to do
When starting or stopping brodalumab, monitor quinidine plasma levels or ECG response if clinically indicated.
