Summary

Voriconazole inhibits CYP2C9 and CYP2C19 and can raise celecoxib exposure. Higher celecoxib levels may increase dose-related adverse effects such as gastrointestinal, renal and cardiovascular toxicity. The effect is clearer in patients who are CYP2C9 poor metabolizers.

What this interaction means in plain words

Celecoxib and Voriconazole can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Celecoxib belongs to Musculoskeletal; Voriconazole belongs to Anti Fungals.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Voriconazole inhibits CYP2C9-mediated metabolism of celecoxib, increasing its plasma concentration.
