Both drugs are VMAT2 inhibitors, so combining them provides duplicate therapy and increases the risk of adverse effects such as sedation, depression, parkinsonism and QT prolongation. There is no rationale for using the two together.
What this interaction means in plain words
Deutetrabenazine and Valbenazine are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Why it happens
Duplicate VMAT2 inhibition causes additive pharmacodynamic effects and excessive monoamine depletion.
