Summary

Both amisulpride and valbenazine can prolong the QT interval, so combined use may increase the risk of ventricular arrhythmias including torsades de pointes. Risk is higher with electrolyte disturbances, bradycardia, or other QT-prolonging drugs. Valbenazine is also associated with somnolence, which may be additive.

What this interaction means in plain words

Amisulpride and Valbenazine can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive prolongation of cardiac repolarization (QT interval).

What to do

Obtain a baseline ECG and monitor QTc if the combination is needed. Correct potassium and magnesium abnormalities and avoid other QT-prolonging drugs.
