Summary

Vortioxetine, like other serotonergic antidepressants, impairs platelet serotonin uptake and may increase bleeding risk. Combined with the antiplatelet action of dipyridamole, bleeding risk may be somewhat higher.

What this interaction means in plain words

Dipyridamole and Vortioxetine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Dipyridamole belongs to Cardiovascular; Vortioxetine belongs to Central Nervous System.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive impairment of platelet function: reduced platelet serotonin uptake with vortioxetine and inhibition of adenosine reuptake and platelet aggregation with dipyridamole.

What to do

Monitor for bruising, gastrointestinal or other bleeding, especially with additional antithrombotics or NSAIDs; consider gastroprotection in high-risk patients.
