Summary

Both drugs can prolong the QT interval, so using them together may increase the risk of ventricular arrhythmias such as torsades de pointes. The risk is greater with electrolyte disturbances, heart disease or higher ezogabine doses.

What this interaction means in plain words

Ezogabine and Lenvatinib can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Ezogabine belongs to Central Nervous System; Lenvatinib belongs to Oncology.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Additive prolongation of cardiac repolarization (QT interval) through pharmacodynamic effects of both drugs.

What to do

Obtain a baseline ECG and monitor it periodically during co-treatment. Correct potassium, magnesium and calcium abnormalities and reduce doses or stop one drug if the QTc becomes markedly prolonged.

What to ask your pharmacist
