Summary

Fexinidazole can prolong the QT interval, and propofol has little direct QT effect but may contribute to arrhythmic risk in susceptible patients. Fexinidazole may also induce CYP2B6, which contributes only minimally to propofol clearance.

What this interaction means in plain words

Fexinidazole and Propofol can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Fexinidazole causes QT prolongation and weak CYP2B6 induction; propofol's contribution is small.

What to do

Check ECG and electrolytes before sedation in patients on fexinidazole and monitor the ECG during the procedure. Titrate propofol to clinical effect without pre-emptive dose changes.
