Summary

Fosaprepitant is converted to aprepitant, a moderate CYP3A4 inhibitor that can increase flibanserin exposure. This raises the risk of hypotension, syncope and sedation.

What this interaction means in plain words

Flibanserin and Fosaprepitant are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Flibanserin belongs to Genitourinary; Fosaprepitant belongs to Gastrointestinal Tract.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Aprepitant inhibits CYP3A4, reducing flibanserin clearance.

What to do

Avoid the combination; withhold flibanserin around fosaprepitant administration or use an alternative antiemetic.
