Summary

Valbenazine can prolong the QT interval at higher exposures, and salmeterol may also prolong QTc and cause tachycardia and hypokalemia. Together they may raise the risk of ventricular arrhythmia in susceptible patients.

What this interaction means in plain words

Fluticasone-salmeterol and Valbenazine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Fluticasone-salmeterol belongs to Respiratory; Valbenazine belongs to Central Nervous System.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Additive QTc prolongation, with beta-2 mediated hypokalemia contributing.

What to do

Obtain an ECG and check potassium and magnesium in patients with cardiac disease or other QT-prolonging drugs. Correct electrolytes and reassess if QTc lengthens.
