Summary

Mavacamten reduces cardiac contractility, and beta-blockers such as sotalol also have negative inotropic and chronotropic effects. Together they may worsen reduced ejection fraction and heart failure, although beta-blockers are often used in obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

What this interaction means in plain words

Mavacamten and Sotalol can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Mavacamten belongs to Cardiovascular; Sotalol belongs to Cardiovascular.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Additive negative inotropic effects through myosin inhibition and beta-adrenergic blockade.

What to do

Monitor left ventricular ejection fraction by echocardiography and clinical heart failure signs, with mavacamten dose adjusted per label. Interrupt mavacamten if ejection fraction falls markedly.

What to ask your pharmacist
