Summary
Sotalol is itself a non-selective beta-blocker, so adding timolol duplicates beta-blockade. This may cause marked bradycardia, hypotension and AV block, and sotalol's proarrhythmic risk makes bradycardia more hazardous.
What this interaction means in plain words
Sotalol and Timolol can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
