Posologie adulte habituelle (résumé de la notice)
Oropharyngeal Candidiasis: Apply 50 mg buccal tab to gum region qDay for 14 consecutive days
Grossesse et allaitement
- Grossesse
- Unknown Vaginal and skin forms: little is absorbed; topical azoles are preferred for thrush in pregnancy. Oral gel and buccal tablets are more absorbed; the buccal label warns of possible fetal harm from animal data, so avoid them if possible (nystatin is an option for mouth thrush).
- Allaitement
- Safe No data for buccal tablets. Poorly absorbed from skin, vagina and gut, so unlikely to affect the infant (LactMed), including when used on the nipples; remove excess before feeds and prefer creams or gels to ointments on the breast.
Effets indésirables signalés
- Irritation
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Allergic contact dermatitis
- Burning
Contre-indications
- Hypersensitivity to drug, milk protein concentrate, or other excipients
Précautions particulières
- Miconazole is systemically absorbed and inhibits CYP2C9 and CYP3A4, prolonging the effect of warfarin; bleeding events, some fatal, have been reported with oral gel. Monitor the anticoagulant effect carefully if coumarin anticoagulants are used concomitantly.
- Choking risk in infants and young children (4 months to 2 years): do not apply the gel to the back of the throat, divide each dose into small portions and observe the patient. Do not apply it to a nipple for infant administration.
- Severe hypersensitivity reactions including anaphylaxis and angioedema have been reported; stop treatment if hypersensitivity or irritation occurs.
