概要

Meloxicam oral suspension contains sorbitol, and sorbitol given with sodium polystyrene sulfonate has been associated with colonic necrosis, which can be fatal. The concern relates to the sorbitol excipient rather than meloxicam itself, and meloxicam tablets lack it. Both NSAIDs and the resin can also independently irritate the gut.
