Como funciona
Recombinant humanized antihuman TNF-alpha neutralizing antibody Binds to human TNFα with a KD of 90pM; TNF-alpha is a key pro-inflammatory cytokine with a central role in inflammatory processes
Dose habitual em adultos (resumo da bula)
Crohn Disease (Initial): 400 mg SC (2 injections of 200 mg), repeat at 2 and 4 weeks

- Gravidez
- Safe Very little crosses the placenta (no Fc region). Data from over 1,500 first-trimester exposures show no rise in birth defects. One of the preferred TNF blockers in pregnancy; can be continued if needed. EU label: delay live vaccines (e.g. BCG) in an exposed infant for 5 months.
- Amamentação
- Safe Milk levels are minimal (CRADLE study) and it is poorly absorbed by the infant. Compatible with breastfeeding.

Contraindicações
- History of hypersensitivity reaction to certolizumab pegol or to any of the excipients; reactions have included angioedema, anaphylactoid reaction, serum sickness, and urticaria
Quem deve ter cuidado
- Increased risk for developing serious infections resulting in hospitalization or death; most patients were taking concomitant immunosuppressants (eg, methotrexate)
- Lymphoma and other malignancies, some fatal, have been reported in children and adolescents treated with TNF blockers.
- Should not receive any live or attenuated vaccines.
