Summary

Armodafinil is a wakefulness-promoting agent and may partly offset opioid sedation, but it does not reverse respiratory depression. Armodafinil is a weak inducer of CYP3A4, which could modestly lower exposure to some opioids, but oxymorphone is cleared mainly by glucuronidation so this is unlikely to matter.

What this interaction means in plain words

Armodafinil and Oxymorphone have a small, usually unimportant interaction. Most people can take both; the pharmacist may still mention it so that any unexpected effect is recognised.

Armodafinil belongs to Central Nervous System; Oxymorphone belongs to Musculoskeletal.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Opposing pharmacodynamic effects on alertness; pharmacokinetic effect on oxymorphone is probably negligible.
