Summary

Clobazam is a weak CYP2D6 inhibitor and may modestly raise brexpiprazole exposure, which matters more if a CYP3A4 inhibitor is also given or in CYP2D6 poor metabolizers. Both drugs also cause sedation, so combined use can increase drowsiness and impairment.

What this interaction means in plain words

Brexpiprazole and Clobazam can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Brexpiprazole belongs to Central Nervous System; Clobazam belongs to Central Nervous System.

Evidence level: Low

Why it happens

Mild CYP2D6 inhibition by clobazam raising brexpiprazole levels, plus additive CNS depression via GABA-A and antihistaminic effects.

What to do

Monitor for sedation, orthostasis and brexpiprazole adverse effects and reduce the dose if a CYP3A4 inhibitor is also present, per labeling. Advise caution with driving.

What to ask your pharmacist
