Summary
Voriconazole raises brigatinib exposure by inhibiting its CYP3A4 metabolism. Higher levels may increase the risk of pulmonary toxicity, hypertension, bradycardia, pancreatic enzyme elevation and visual disturbances.
What this interaction means in plain words
Brigatinib and Voriconazole can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Brigatinib belongs to Oncology; Voriconazole belongs to Anti Fungals.
Why it happens
Strong CYP3A4 inhibition decreases brigatinib clearance.
What to do
Avoid if possible; otherwise reduce the brigatinib dose by about half as labeled and monitor for respiratory symptoms and blood pressure. Restore the prior dose after voriconazole is stopped.
What to ask your pharmacist
