Summary
Both serotonergic activity and dopamine blockade are involved, so there is a theoretical risk of serotonin syndrome when an antipsychotic is combined with a triptan. Reports of clinically significant events are rare and the evidence is limited. Loxapine also has a small risk of neuroleptic malignant syndrome, which presents with overlapping features.
