What this interaction means in plain words
Everolimus and Voclosporin can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Everolimus belongs to Oncology; Voclosporin belongs to Miscellaneous.
Why it happens
Additive nephrotoxicity and immunosuppression; calcineurin inhibitors can also increase everolimus exposure via CYP3A4 and P-gp inhibition.
What to do
Avoid concurrent use if possible. If it is necessary, monitor serum creatinine, eGFR and everolimus trough levels closely and reduce doses as needed.
