What this interaction means in plain words

Futibatinib and Itraconazole can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.

Futibatinib belongs to Oncology; Itraconazole belongs to Anti Fungals.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Combined P-gp and CYP3A4 inhibition increases futibatinib absorption and reduces clearance.

What to do

Avoid coadministration and use an alternative antifungal. If unavoidable, monitor serum phosphate and for ocular and other toxicities, with dose reduction as needed.
