What this interaction means in plain words
Hydroxyzine and Moxifloxacin can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Hydroxyzine belongs to Respiratory; Moxifloxacin belongs to Anti Bacterial.
Why it happens
Additive QT prolongation via blockade of cardiac potassium (hERG) channels.
What to do
Avoid the combination where possible and choose an alternative antibiotic or antihistamine. If it cannot be avoided, check ECG and correct potassium and magnesium.
