Summary
NSAIDs such as lornoxicam can blunt the diuretic and antihypertensive effect of loop diuretics and raise the risk of acute kidney injury, especially in dehydrated or heart failure patients. NSAIDs may also cause sodium and fluid retention and raise potassium.
What this interaction means in plain words
Lornoxicam and Torsemide can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Lornoxicam belongs to Musculoskeletal; Torsemide belongs to Cardiovascular.
Why it happens
NSAID inhibition of renal prostaglandin synthesis reduces renal blood flow and sodium excretion, opposing loop diuretic action.
What to do
Avoid prolonged combined use where possible; if needed, use the lowest NSAID dose for the shortest time and monitor weight, blood pressure, creatinine and potassium.
