Summary
Ocrelizumab depletes B cells and increases infection risk, and concomitant corticosteroids, especially at high doses or for prolonged periods, add to the immunosuppression. Short methylprednisolone premedication is standard, but sustained steroid use increases infection concern.
What this interaction means in plain words
Ocrelizumab and Prednisone can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Ocrelizumab belongs to Central Nervous System; Prednisone belongs to Endocrine.
Why it happens
Additive immunosuppression from B-cell depletion and broad glucocorticoid suppression of immune function.
What to do
Limit corticosteroid dose and duration where possible and monitor for infections, screening for hepatitis B before ocrelizumab. Avoid live vaccines.
