Résumé
Ozanimod is metabolised to active metabolites that inhibit MAO-B, so adding an MAO inhibitor may lead to hypertensive crisis or serotonin toxicity, and labeling contraindicates concurrent use. MAO-B inhibitors may also change exposure to ozanimod active metabolites.
Ce que signifie cette interaction, en termes simples
Ozanimod and Rasagiline are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.
Ozanimod belongs to Central Nervous System; Rasagiline belongs to Central Nervous System.
Pourquoi elle survient
MAO-B inhibition by rasagiline may reduce formation of ozanimod active metabolites and the combined MAO inhibition may cause excess monoamines.
Conduite à tenir
Avoid the combination and consider alternative therapy for multiple sclerosis or Parkinson disease. Allow at least 14 days after stopping ozanimod before starting an MAO inhibitor.
