Resumo
Cephaloridine is a markedly nephrotoxic cephalosporin, and combining it with vancomycin may increase the risk of kidney injury. Cephaloridine is obsolete and rarely available.
O que esta interação significa em palavras simples
Cephaloridine and Vancomycin can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Por que acontece
Additive nephrotoxicity, with cephaloridine causing proximal tubular injury.
O que fazer
Avoid the combination and choose a less nephrotoxic alternative; if used, monitor serum creatinine and urine output closely.
