Summary
Toremifene can cause hypercalcemia, particularly in patients with bone metastases, and thiazides reduce urinary calcium excretion. The combination may increase hypercalcemia risk. Toremifene also prolongs QT, and thiazide-induced hypokalemia or hypomagnesemia could worsen that risk.
What this interaction means in plain words
Amlodipine-hydrochlorothiazide-valsartan and Toremifene can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Amlodipine-hydrochlorothiazide-valsartan belongs to Cardiovascular; Toremifene belongs to Endocrine.
Why it happens
Thiazide-reduced renal calcium excretion adds to toremifene-associated hypercalcemia; electrolyte loss raises QT risk.
What to do
Monitor serum calcium, potassium and magnesium, and correct deficits. Consider a non-thiazide antihypertensive if hypercalcemia occurs.
What to ask your pharmacist
