Summary
Flibanserin inhibits intestinal P-glycoprotein and can increase exposure to digoxin, a narrow therapeutic index P-gp substrate. Higher digoxin levels may lead to nausea, arrhythmias and other signs of digoxin toxicity.
What this interaction means in plain words
Digoxin and Flibanserin can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Digoxin belongs to Cardiovascular; Flibanserin belongs to Genitourinary.
Why it happens
Flibanserin inhibits P-glycoprotein efflux, increasing digoxin absorption and reducing its clearance.
What to do
Monitor serum digoxin concentrations and clinical signs of toxicity when starting or stopping flibanserin. Reduce the digoxin dose if levels rise.
