Summary
Epcoritamab releases cytokines, which can temporarily suppress hepatic CYP enzymes including CYP1A2, the main route of tizanidine clearance. This may raise tizanidine levels and increase hypotension, bradycardia and sedation, especially around cytokine release syndrome.
What this interaction means in plain words
Epcoritamab and Tizanidine can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.
Epcoritamab belongs to Oncology; Tizanidine belongs to Musculoskeletal.
Why it happens
Cytokine-mediated suppression of CYP1A2 reduces tizanidine metabolism.
What to do
Monitor blood pressure, heart rate and sedation after the first doses and during cytokine release syndrome. Reduce or hold tizanidine if adverse effects appear.
What to ask your pharmacist
- Should I take them at different times of day?
- Does the dose of either medicine need to change?
- Is there anything I should avoid, such as alcohol or certain foods, while on both?
