What this interaction means in plain words

Esomeprazole and Voriconazole can affect each other. The combination is often manageable, but it may need a change of dose, a change of timing, or extra checks while both are taken.

Esomeprazole belongs to Gastrointestinal Tract; Voriconazole belongs to Anti Fungals.

Evidence level: Moderate

Why it happens

Voriconazole inhibits CYP2C19 and CYP3A4 metabolism of esomeprazole.

What to do

Consider reducing esomeprazole dose if high doses are used long term, such as in Zollinger-Ellison or erosive esophagitis. Monitor for PPI adverse effects and voriconazole toxicity.
