What this interaction means in plain words
Fluconazole and Ivabradine can interact in a way that may be serious. Using them together is sometimes necessary, but it needs a deliberate decision by the prescriber, a plan for monitoring, and clear advice on the warning signs to watch for.
Fluconazole belongs to Anti Fungals; Ivabradine belongs to Cardiovascular.
Why it happens
Inhibition of CYP3A4-mediated ivabradine metabolism.
What to do
Avoid combining with moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors per labeling, and choose an alternative antifungal. If unavoidable, monitor heart rate and ECG closely and adjust the ivabradine dose.
