Summary

Modafinil promotes wakefulness while temazepam is a sedative-hypnotic, so their clinical effects oppose each other. Modafinil may weaken the intended hypnotic effect, and it can also mask sedation without removing benzodiazepine-related psychomotor impairment. Modafinil has a weak CYP3A4 inducing effect, but temazepam is mainly glucuronidated so this is of little relevance.
