為何使用: 它有助於在糖皮質素之間轉換，或比較累積暴露量。
使用方式: 選擇目前的藥物與劑量，以及目標藥物；等效劑量僅適用於全身性（口服或靜脈）的抗發炎效價。
如何解讀結果: 結果是大致等效的劑量（例如 prednisolone 5 mg 相當於 dexamethasone 0.75 mg 或 hydrocortisone 20 mg）。這不是劑量建議：不同藥物的礦物皮質素作用、作用時間與適應症各不相同。

計算方式

等效 mg：hydrocortisone 20、cortisone 25、prednisolone 5、prednisone 5、methylprednisolone 4、triamcinolone 4、dexamethasone 0.75、betamethasone 0.75

每種藥物皆有其抗發炎等效量。等效表依 BNF 與 Liu 2013：hydrocortisone 20 mg、cortisone 25 mg、prednisolone 5 mg、prednisone 5 mg、methylprednisolone 4 mg、triamcinolone 4 mg、dexamethasone 0.75 mg、betamethasone 0.75 mg。

藥物 B 的劑量 = 藥物 A 的劑量 × (B 的等效 mg ÷ A 的等效 mg)

與特定量藥物 A 等效的藥物 B 的量，為 A 的量乘以兩者等效量的比值。

Prednisone 等效劑量 = 劑量 × 5 ÷ 藥物 A 的等效 mg

同時顯示 prednisone 等效劑量，以 5 mg 為基準計算。

等效僅比較糖皮質素（抗發炎）效價。各藥物的礦物皮質素作用不同（hydrocortisone 與 cortisone 高，dexamethasone 與 methylprednisolone 極低），且不包含 fludrocortisone。

計算範例

將 10 mg 的 prednisone 換算為 dexamethasone：

10 × 0.75 ÷ 5 = 1.5 mg
10 × 5 ÷ 5 = 10 mg

10 mg 的 prednisone 相當於 1.5 mg 的 dexamethasone。Prednisone 等效劑量為 10 mg；其他等效劑量為 hydrocortisone 40 mg、cortisone 50 mg、prednisolone 10 mg、methylprednisolone 8 mg、triamcinolone 8 mg 及 betamethasone 1.5 mg。
