Summary

Enzalutamide lowers doravirine concentrations through strong CYP3A induction, and doravirine labeling contraindicates strong CYP3A inducers. Reduced exposure may cause loss of virologic control and resistance.

What this interaction means in plain words

Doravirine and Enzalutamide are not normally used together. Taking them at the same time is expected to cause harm or make one of them unsafe, so a different medicine is usually chosen for one of the two.

Doravirine belongs to Anti Virals; Enzalutamide belongs to Endocrine.

Evidence level: High

Why it happens

Induction of CYP3A4 by enzalutamide increases doravirine metabolism.

What to do

Do not coadminister; select a different antiretroviral regimen or antiandrogen. Monitor HIV RNA if the inducer was recently stopped.

What to ask your pharmacist

  • Is there an alternative to one of these two medicines for me?
  • If both are essential, who is monitoring me and how often?
